When I meditated on those around me who were suffering, the image of an overshadowing beneficent presence came to me. I felt we are never alone, even in what is called the "dark night of the soul". The Comforter, by any name, is there for any of us who is suffering physically or emotionally. The energy of the Higher Self is poured through these entities, sometimes called "angels", sometimes called by other names, and transmitted to the individual in compassion.
